I've watched many introductory lap steel videos on YouTube, and I just bought a 2-disc DVD course from. The bundled CDs with some of those books were pretty worthless as well. Either they did not explain things very clearly, or they went from zero to a hundred miles per hour over the course of only two or three pages. The introductory books that I've looked at were not very inspiring. Seeking to learn to play pedal steel is a bit too ambitious for me, but maybe starting by learning lap steel will be more realistic. I love the sound of lap steel and pedal steel guitar.Įven though I'm not really a country music fan, I will listen to decent country tracks that feature steel guitar, as well as enjoying alternative rock pieces that include steel guitar, either as a backing instrument or with a more prominent role in the music.
